Call for Applications to Assist the Recreational Fishing Industry
The Maverick Boat Group, manufacturer of Cobia, Pathfinder, Maverick and Hewes boats is working with the Fish & Wildlife Foundation of Florida to distribute $20,000 in small grants of up to $2,000 to Florida fishing guides and others in the recreational fishing industry who have sustained significant losses during Hurricane Irma.
The Foundation is requesting applicants complete a simple form outlining the nature of their business or work in Florida’s recreational fishing industry and outlining the extent of their uninsured physical or revenue losses due to the hurricane. Applicants with physical damage are also encouraged to submit up to five pre- and post-Irma photographs documenting their damage.
Individuals are encouraged to submit their applications by Wednesday, November 22nd. Decisions will be made and funds distributed on or before Friday, November 30th. Grant applications will be considered as they arrive.
“We hope this is the first of a series of funds the Foundation can make available to help with the recovery of the recreational fishing community, particularly in South Florida and the Keys,” said Foundation CEO Andrew Walker. “We are indebted to Maverick Boat Group President and Founder Scott Deal for their far-sighted generosity.”
