ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
The Annual Giving & Membership Manager will work closely with the President & CEO to build the Fish and Wildlife Foundation of Florida’s annual support program and help ensure the Foundation meets its annual operating revenue targets. S/he will manage the Foundation’s direct-mail and e-mail fund raising solicitations and other strategies to build an increasingly large and diverse universe of annual financial supporters, making strategic use of the FWC database of 2.5 million Florida fishing and hunting license holders and other target audiences.

S/he will manage the gift-acknowledgement process for all donors, working closely with the Major Gifts & Events Manager on tailored thank-you’s and stewardship of the Foundation’s managed prospects and $1,000+ donors. S/he will oversee research on existing and prospective donors.

The Annual Giving and Membership Manager will administer the Foundation’s fund raising database, entering gifts and running analytical reports to assess the Foundation’s progress. S/he will also help design and implement promotions designed to turn website visitors, social media followers and others into financial supporters. The Annual Giving & Membership Manager will also provide support as needed to the Foundation’s major gifts fund raising program. S/he may also take the lead on special target audiences, like Florida’s outdoor recreation companies, to build annual corporate support.

The Annual Giving & Membership Manager will provide some administrative support to the President & CEO, to whom s/he reports. S/he may oversee the work of interns, short-term staff, vendors, volunteers and eventually other full-time staff.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES:

  • Help develop and implement strategies for identifying and cultivating target audiences and soliciting them for annual financial support.
  • Serve as chief administrator of the Foundation’s philanthropy database, ensuring all gifts are entered in a timely and accurate fashion.
  • Ensure timely acknowledgement of all charitable gifts. Work with the Chief Financial Officer and his staff to ensure accuracy of charitable gift data across the finance and philanthropy databases.
  • Run analytical reports as needed to monitor fund raising progress.
  • Oversee research on prospects and donors.
  • Assist in implementation of Foundation fundraising events; oversee Foundation involvement in public events with the potential to build annual support, such as MarineQuest, ICast, boat shows, etc.
  • Supervise interns, short-term or contract employees, and over time, other permanent staff of the Foundation.
  • Other duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS:

  • Bachelor’s degree and 3 years’ related work experience in an office setting or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Demonstrated experience and strong aptitude for data entry and database management. Knowledge of fundraising principles and practices, Salesforce, Raiser’s Edge or other philanthropy software a plus.
  • Nonprofit event experience a plus.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and emotional intelligence, with the ability to interact successfully with donors, Board members, work colleagues, state employees and the public at large.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to accuracy and detail.
  • Strong project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects at the same time.
  • Experience in or appreciation for conservation and the out-of-doors a plus.

  • Ability to manage projects with many variables, set realistic deadlines and manage to a timeline.

RESPONSIBILITY/OVERSIGHT – FINANCIAL & SUPERVISORY:

  • May supervise administrative staff and/or volunteers, interns, or temporary staff.
  • Financial responsibility may include working within a budget to complete projects, and assisting with budget development and meeting fundraising goals.
  • Works within scope of program’s strategic goals.

COMMUNICATIONS/INTERPERSONAL CONTACTS:

  • Demonstrated experience using effective interpersonal skills, listening, diplomacy and tact to build strong professional relationships and motivate vendors, staff and volunteers.
  • Well-developed written and oral communication, negotiating and organizational skills.

WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL EFFORT:

  • Work is performed in a typical office setting and requires only minor physical exertion and/or physical strain. Work environment involves only infrequent exposure to disagreeable elements.
  • Occasional overnight travel, usually within Florida, required.
  • Must have personal transportation to run errands, attend meetings, etc.
